What is the function of a mold?
Molds are various molds and tools used in industrial production to obtain the desired products through methods such as injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, die casting, forging, smelting, and stamping. In short, a mold is a tool used to manufacture molds made up of various parts, while other molds consist of different parts. It mainly achieves the shaping of items through changes in the physical state of the molding materials. It has long been referred to as the 'mother of industry'.
Molds are various molds and tools used in industrial production to obtain the desired products through methods such as injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, die casting, forging, smelting, and stamping. In short, a mold is a tool used to manufacture molds composed of various parts, while other molds consist of different parts. It mainly achieves the processing of the item's shape through changes in the physical state of the molding material.
A mold is a tool that shapes a blank into a specific shape and size under external force. It is widely used in punching, die forging, cold forging, extrusion, powder metallurgy presses, pressure casting, and compression or injection molding of engineering plastics, rubber, ceramics, and other products. Molds have specific profiles or internal cavity shapes; if a profile shape with cutting edges is applied, it separates (the blank) workpieces according to the profile shape. By applying internal cavity shapes, blanks can obtain corresponding three-dimensional shapes. Molds typically consist of two parts: a die (or punch and die) that can be separated together. The finished product is removed during separation; when closed, the blank is injected into the mold cavity. Molds are precision tools with complex shapes that withstand the expansion force of blanks and have high requirements for structural strength, rigidity, surface hardness, surface roughness, and processing accuracy. The level of mold production development is one of the important indicators of mechanical manufacturing levels.
What types of molds are there?
According to processing objectives and processes, they can be divided into several parts:
Processing metals.
Processing non-metals and powder metallurgy molds. This includes plastic molds (such as two-color molds and extrusion molds), rubber molds, powder metallurgy molds etc. Based on structural characteristics, they can be divided into flat stamping and spatial hollow molds. Molds are generally single components produced in small quantities.
The classification of molds includes:
Depending on the material being formed
Hardware molds, plastic molds and special molds.
Hardware molds include stamping dies, forging dies, extrusion dies and die-casting dies.
Non-metallic molds are divided into types such as plastic molds, weapon non-metallics, sand casting molds, vacuum forms and paraffin types.
Among them, with the rapid development of polymer plastics, plastic molds are closely related to people's lives. Plastic molds can generally be divided into injection molding dies, extrusion forming dies and gas-assisted forming.
